EURAMAL is short for “European Association for Modern Arabic Literature”. It is a European association gathering scholars in modern Arabic literature. EURAMAL was founded in 1992 by a group of professors, among them the late Ed de Moor, as EMTAR (European Meeting of Teachers of Modern Arabic Language & Literature). Since the first conference in Nijmegen/NL, in 1992, EMTAR/EURAMAL has organized biennial international conferences to promote the discussion, analysis and theorization on modern Arabic literature. Renowned scholars and young students from all Europe, as well as scholars and critics from the Arab world and the rest of the world participate in the conferences. Each conference includes the participation of Arab writers as guests of honour. The conferences have resulted in various publications.

You can find information on previous EURAMAL conferences here.
